BOOK OF THE MONTH
Do you have someone in your life whose use of alcohol is causing you pain? Have you struggled to sort out what you can do about this situation?
Al-Anon Family Groups have developed literature for those whose lives are affected by others' use of alcohol. Affected others may be family, friends, or co-workers of the person abusing alcohol. In these two books, the Al-Anon fellowship offers ideas on a multitude of relevant topics, from "acceptance" to "wisdom", to bring comfort or to encourage personal growth in the reader. Set up in a daily reading format, thoughts for the day promote learning from the experience of others in similar situations and offer hope and strength for healthy change.
Acadia Family Center provides treatment for affected others, for those who grew up in an alcoholic family, for those now dealing with alcoholism in a spouse or friend or family member, and for those who find themselves in codependent relationships with others.
